Ever since I heard about this movie, I thought, oh great, another movie with Tom Cruise doing his Tom Cruise thing. But given the intense subject matter — along with Tom Cruise doing his Tom Cruise thing — it could actually work.
It doesn’t hurt that it’s directed by Bryan Singer and also stars Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Patrick Wilson, Terence Stamp, and Tom Wilkinson. You can’t ask for a better team.

It perhaps says something about Valkyrie that MGM execs have been getting so excited about a little bit of decent advance buzz. The sense of shock is palpable in this leaked memo that the film could win critical praise from serious journalists. Of course, no one's actually seen it yet.
