Trailer: The Young John Lennon Biopic, 'Nowhere Boy'
:: The Playlist :: —
[image] Alright, here's a trailer we're much more excited about: Sam Taylor-Wood 's young John Lennon biopic " Nowhere Boy. " Or where excited anyhow... Interestingly enough, there's no Beatles or Lennon music in this one and the first song we hear is Jay Hawkins' classic, " I Put A Spell On You ," though it does feature voice recordings of Lennon reflecting back on his childhood. But we must say it doesn't look great and rather much like a conventional melodrama/ em0-teeny coming-of-age tale (lots of teen angst in here). Not sure what that final, indie-rock- ish song is at the end of the trailer, but it'll make some cringe and it's ...
Must Watch: First Great Trailer for John Lennon Biopic Nowhere Boy
FirstShowing.net —
I didn't expect we'd see a trailer for this film this quickly, but alas, here it is. The first trailer for Sam Taylor-Wood's Nowhere Boy, the biopic about a young John Lennon, has debuted on YouTube (via The Playlist). This actually looks fantastic, even better than I was expecting. It definitely seems ...
Trailer for NOWHERE BOY Starring Aaron Johnson as John Lennon

I will watch anything “Beatles”-related. I suffered through the entirety of “Across the Universe” because I love them so much. If “Batman: Arkham Asylum” had Beatles songs it would be my favorite game of the year by far. So even though I’m slightly wary of this tale, I will not miss “Nowhere ...
Trailer for NOWHERE BOY, a biopic of a young John Lennon

Biopics can be hard to pull off for filmmakers and actors, and an even harder pill to swallow for audiences. Bottling someone’s life into semi-fiction when it has been well-documented is difficult enough, but if that person was of iconic status then it’s even harder still. Yes, good ones exist (WALK THE LINE, I’M NOT THERE, THE AVIATOR) but they are few and far between, leaving most films of a biographic nature feeling like they belong on the Lifetime channel.
So, with what said, how does one capture a man that has been, and will continue to be, a symbol for generations? A poet, a weapon for peace, and of course one of ...
Nowhere Boy Trailer
Atomicpopcorn —
It’s quite possible that the closest we’ll get to a biopic about the Beatles, at least as long as the remaining members of the band are alive, is Sam Taylor Wood’s Nowhere Boy, which chronicles the formative years of the group’s beating heart, John Lennon.
And if this trailer is any indication, I think that’s one of the best ways you could make a film about the band itself. The music is more than well-known — it has saturated our culture for decades. And while many people are aware of the band themselves, Lennon’s life is a story that is worth sharing with people, as it informed his lyrics to an ...

Trailer for young John Lennon story online
Filmstalker —
JohnLennon.jpg Nowhere Boy is the story of the young John Lennon, his life, his family and his first meeting with the Beatles to be, and the trailer has arrived online and looks rather interesting. However I'm not sure if it will please John Lennon or Beatles fans as it doesn't feature their music, although it does have the voice of John Lennon running through it, something that must have made it hard for the lead actor to cope with. The film uses recordings John Lennon made reflecting on his own life as a voice over to weave the story together, an interesting idea, but I wonder if that's where it ends for the film. Although that might seem interesting and the ...
John Lennon Biopic Nowhere Boy Trailer
Film Junk —
A fresh wave of Beatlemania swept across the world last month with the release of Beatles Rock Band and the newly remastered Beatles catalogue, and the timing seems to have worked out quite nicely for Sam Taylor Wood’s upcoming John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy. Although you might expect a Lennon biopic to be a massive Hollywood blockbuster with big name stars, this is a smaller British affair, using mostly unknown actors and (I believe) none of the Beatles’ music. Because of this stripped down approach, and the fact that it focuses mainly on Lennon’s childhood, Nowhere Boy seems like it has a good shot at ...

‘Nowhere Boy’ trailer

Sam Taylor-Wood’s debut feature has its world premiere tonight as it closes out the London Film Festival. I’ll have a short take up for you later today, but for now, here’s the trailer. (I’ll say this much: Kristin Scott Thomas’s recent run of form remains unbroken.)
Lennon as Girlyman
Hollywood Elsewhere —
Lennon as Girlyman Sam Taylor Wood 's Nowhere Boy , which premieres tonight at the London Film Festival , is a marginally effective, vaguely muffled chick-flick account of John Lennon 's teenage years in Liverpool, circa 1956 to '60. I'm not calling it dull, exactly. "Somewhat underwhelming" is a fair way to put it. I respond best to films about transcendent, climb-out-of-it responses to problems rather than ones that mainly portray the muck and the grief of it all. And Nowhere Boy 's somewhat feminized, all-he-needs-is-love story just didn't turn me on. But before I get into it I need to stop and report something phenomenal (and I don't mean to sound ...
LFF 2009: Nowhere Boy
FILMdetail —
Despite a plethora of potential pitfalls this drama about the early
years of John Lennon is a stylish and engaging biopic.
Nowhere Boy explores the teenage years of Lennon (Aaron Johnson) and the two important women in his youth: his aunt Mimi Smith (Kristin Scott Thomas) who raised him and his mother Julia (Anne Marie Duff). It also charts his early forays into music as he forms The Quarrymen with a younger guitarist named Paul McCartney (Thomas Sangster).
Bringing a cultural icon like John Lennon to the big screen was always ...
NOWHERE BOY: A career-defining role for Aaron Johnson!
Home —
tMF has been keeping an eye on Aaron Johnson from the time we watched him in The Illusionist. He went on to grab a leading role in Kick-Ass, even after Matthew Vaughn, the director announced that he's not going to cast a British for the part. Apparently, Johnson made quite an impression.
