So it's really happening. Mad Max 4 (possibly called Mad Max: Fury Road ) is in real pre-production and could very well be shooting by next year. How really happening is it? Director George Miller is building the cars! He says that it could take a year to build the cars, but I imagine that it could be done faster should the movie get the official greenlight. Spurred by all the rumors hitting the interwebs, Miller invited ABC Australia to the studio and showed them around, including showing off some of the cars. He also talked to them about the casting. But don't settle for my take on it, here's the actual video:

MAD MAX 4: FURY ROAD Moving Quickly
We Are Movie Geeks —
I do mean “quickly” both literally and figuratively, as it was announced on Saturday in Australia’s The Daily Telegraph that pre-production on George Miller’s fourth installment in the MAD MAX series had begun. Word came down last week as to who Miller himself saw in the lead roles (thumbs up for Tom Hardy, thumbs in the I-don’t-know for Charlize). Rumors come up in the Telegraph that redux go-to guy Sam Worthington is up for the lead role. Hardy would be better, but I understand the box office draw Worthington is slowly amassing.
While much of the Telegraph article is about how the new MAD MAX ...

For a long time George Miller has been talking about his $100million sequel to Mad Max, Mad Max 4 and I have been waiting very impatiently for the day to come. Now comes word that the project has been greenlit and is moving ahead. Lots of names being kicked around as to who would play Mad Max including Sam Worthington who starred in Terminator Salvation and is in James Camerons upcoming Avatar.
I am EXTREMELY excited for this movie and hope they do cast somebody of Worthingtons caliber to star. Below you can checkout a 4minute video where George Miller talks about the film, its stars and shows off the new cars he has planned. ...
George Miller Describes The Stunt-Heavy 'Mad Max' Sequel's Many Vehicles
MTV Movies Blog —
The "Mad Max" rumor mill evolved into a flat-out fact-churning factory over the weekend thanks to words from director George Miller, who spoke with news outlets about progress on the fourth installment in the franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Miller, who said that "Fury Road" — the upcoming "Mad Max" sequel's title — would make New South Wales in Australia a very desirable filming location for big blockbusters, likely due to its reported $100 million budget.
The article also notes that "Fury Road" could start shooting as soon as next year, though Miller himself might have a bone to pick with that ...

There have been a spate of articles spreading throughout the net over the past week regarding the long awaited Mad Max 4. First came the (entirely justified) speculation that Mel Gibson might not be returning to the franchise, then came a rumour that “Terminator Salvation” and “Avatar” star Sam Worthington had been pegged as the lead in the sequel.
Now finally, somebody has managed to pin down Mad Max director George Miller for the inside scoop. The lucky folks in question were Australia’s ...
MAD MAX 4 HAS CARS, MAYBE
Filmdrunk —
A fourth Mad Max movie has been threatened for a long time now, but I didn’t start to take it seriously until The Daily Telegraph confirmed the production and director George Miller (who directed the first three) went on ABC news (the Australian one) to talk about it. He says that despite the recent rumors about Charlize Theron and Bronson’s Tom Hardy, no cast is confirmed. I’ve got the whole clip after the jump, but I wouldn’t recommend watching it because it’s really boring and the screencap above is about as much of the cars as you’re going to see.
Why am I not ...
Miller Talks Mad Max
Latino Review —
Whether you like it or not, the new Mad Max movie is going forward as evidenced by the following YouTube clip of George Miller, the director, discussing the project.
"We're trying to do stuff that I believe people haven't done before. That's why we're taking so long to build [the cars]. It'll take a year to build all the vehicles [...] We want to nudge the genre a little bit."
While Miller was more than happy to hint at what he hopes to include in the new Mad Max he declined to give any definite answers regarding the return of Mel Gibson as the titular. When asked specifically if Gibson was option, Millar coyly replied, "Everyone's an option. There's ...
