Twilight Watch: Let the Right Vampire In
Thompson On Hollywood —
True confession. I am into vampires.
Raised on Hammer Dracula films starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, when I was nine I dressed up as a Chinese vampire on Halloween. F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu is a fave. I devoured Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, as well as the classic movie starring Bela Lugosi. ("I don't ...

Counting Down The Hours —
Låt den rätte komma in A work of sheer brilliance by Adam Frazier “Let the Right One In” is an endearing coming-of-age story that is so unique and exceptional it defies classification. In this Swedish film, adapted from John Ajvide Lindqvist's bestselling novel, director Tomas Alfredson masterfully weaves a story of falling in love that is both horrifying and tender. 12-year-old Oskar (Kare Hedebrant) is a victim of relentless bullying. When we’re first introduced to young Oskar, he is alone in his bedroom, dressed only in his underwear. Immediately the insecurities that rule Oskar’s everyday life ...
RacsOview: "Let the Right One In"
RacsO Ledger —
Quite possibly the best vampire movie ever made. "Let the Right One In" stands out as my favorite movie of the year after I saw it. It was bleak, poignant, mesmerizing, stunning and highly memorable. Beautifully shot, perfectly acted and crisply edited. A coming of age story about mortals and non mortals. Not necessarily breaking grounds on the whole vampire genre, but definitely the best among them. A+

What the hell happened? There's empty bottles of eggnog and cans of beer piled knee deep in the kitchen. The rug smells like...ew. And I swear it tastes like someone had a party in my mouth and everyone threw up on the way out, then came back in and defecated in it. It was one hell of a holiday season. ...

Let the Right One In (2008)
Dave's Blog About Movies and Such —
dir. Tomas Alfredson As most of my readers have probably guessed by now, reviewing current movies ain't exactly my bag. It's not that I don't enjoy new movies, I just don't go to the theater that often. When movies stop costing twelve goddamn dollars I'll reconsider my viewing habits.* It's sad for a movie geek like me to admit this, but I probably go to the theater an average of only six times a year. The movie theater experience is unparalleled and seeing as it will probably go the way the way of the dodo bird, I should take advantage while I can; but, as I said earlier, I'm a broke-ass motherfucker who can't afford to spend twelve ...
Let The Right One In DVD Is In Stores Now
Addicted to Films —
What a surprise I had when I made my weekly trip to one of the local CD/DVD stores and saw Let the Right One In DVD on their new arrivals shelf. I had been wanting to watch this movie ever since I've heard of it. It had opened in Singapore in mid February. And in fact, last week I had actually deliberated going out to the theaters and see it. But, but...the only thing that stopped me from doing that, is that I am absolutely determined to read the book first before watching the movie. And from what I know, as of now, there is still one lone theater in Singapore that is still showing it. So if you want to see it on the big screens you better hurry. ...
