Joaquin Phoenix — Great Actor, Horrible Rapper
If It's Movies —
It was only a few months ago when Joaquin Phoenix announced that he was going to retire from acting to pursue his musical career. Sure, he did a great job as Johnny Cash in “Walk The Line,” but just because he was good at singing country doesn’t mean he would be good at doing hip-hop.
Last night was the debut of Phoenix’s hip-hop career, and you can see how horribly he did by watching the first video below. The second video is of him trying to pump up the crowd and then exiting the stage, where the whole performance just falls on its face. ...
Joaquin Phoenix's Needs Serious Help
:: The Playlist :: —
"This is me saying this is who I am," Phoenix says, "This is my story. This is my life, this is no Mekhi Phifer." You tell 'em, bro. [People] [ed. Phifer could not be reached for comment]. Sometimes you just gotta think someone like Casey Affleck is like, "my friend is off his rocker and it's a bit sad, but fuck this is just too good not to capture." Don't forget, he married into the family. Affleck is Summer Phoenix's husband, so maybe this is just a way of him helping brother-in-law work through his ...
This Is The Face Of A Rapper
TheBadandUgly.com —
Joaquin Phoenix has shed his acting persona and continues to go around to places, rapping. Maybe that’s why he has one of the top viral videos on the internet right now, with a video featuring one of his raps. You can’t really tell what he’s saying, but you can tell that it’s underwhelming for everyone there.
This is either going to turn out being a joke the whole time or one of the greatest sudden burn-outs in celebrity history.
Let’s hope for the latter and prepare for the former.
Oh, yeah, did I mention he also falls off the stage?

In recent weeks, actor Joaquin Phoenix's announcement that he's decided to leave acting and pursue a career as a rapper has puzzled pretty much everybody.
And despite the fact that it seemed like he was trying to punk the world, there was plenty of evidence to back it up. There was a video of the "Walk the Line" star spitting verses at a club in Culver City, California. ...

BEVERLY HILLS, California — As a reporter, I typically try to keep myself out of the story. Today, however, I had one of the strangest interviews of my career — and it was Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix who wanted to make me part of his new hip-hop reinvention.
"It ain't nothing personal," the "Walk the Line" star insisted as he staggered into a room at the Four Seasons, unrecognizable with a Rick Rubin-like beard, ...
WALKING THE LINE STRAIGHT TO HIP-HOP
Reel Talk —
A Roman emperor, heroic firefighter, Johnny Cash and a rapper? It’s official. It's being reported that Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix is ditching his promising acting career for hip-hop. He’s so serious about his newfound passion, he's even built a recording studio in his home.
It’s hard to take any actor turned musician seriously. Did Phoenix not learn anything from the misadventures of Lindsay Lohan, Peter Gallagher, Eddie Murphy, Patrick Swayze, David Hasselhoff or the many other actors who have attempted to make it in the music business? It’s fairly obvious he didn’t. His debut rap performance aired ...
Joaquin Phoenix continues hoax on Letterman
Scene-Stealers —
What’s the point?
I called it without ever having seen any video of him rapping, but it’s pretty clear that Joaquin Phoenix’s self-imposed retirement from acting to pursue a career as a rapper is a hoax. As soon as the news broke that his brother-in-law Casey Affleck would be directing a documentary about his decision, it was pretty obvious that some “Borat”-style shenanigans were going on. Ironically, to prove my point in my original blog, I posted a video from “Late Night with David Letterman” of Andy Kaufman’s similar wrestling hoax (in which he conspired with real-life ...
