Friday the 13th Remake Teaser Trailer
Film Junk —
Although I haven’t been too interested in any of the previous Platinum Dunes horror remakes, I have to admit that I’ve been maintaining some hope for the upcoming reboot of the Friday the 13th franchise. For some reason, I just feel like this series above all others has been through so many different sequels and iterations that it will be fun to see them take it back to the beginning and start over fresh again.
So now we’ve finally got our first glimpse at this new version of Friday the 13th courtesy of a teaser that aired during the Spike TV Scream Awards. My take? It’s simply not scary or ...
Footage: Friday the 13th Hacks Up the Scream Awards
Film School Rejects —
Some footage — footage that, oddly enough, was also shown at Comic-Con — from Friday the 13th hit the screen at this evening’s Spike TV Scream Awards, and to be honest, it isn’t really that impressive. Then again, it might be impressive if you have close your eyes and imagine that its like 18 years ago. Otherwise I’m not diggin’ it. Could be the low resolution — though, I seriously doubt it. It’s really not too bad. There’s a compelling atmosphere.
The old theme music doesn’t match the new look at all, but it’s nice to hear.
And from the glimpse we see, I quite like the way Jason ‘moves’. - Given he has no dialogue, this aspect shouldn’t be underestimated. The truly creepy slasher characters walk and run in a way that’s slight “off”. Michael Myers is eerily still. Here Jason seems to be ...
Trailer Review: Friday the 13th (Teaser)
The Screengrab —
I’ve never been a big fan of the Friday the 13th series, since Jason is a much less interesting villain than Freddy Krueger or even Michael Myers. So I don’t really have a problem with them remaking this one since, after all, the original movies weren’t that good to begin with. That said, this doesn’t look too promising. It doesn’t help that Marcus Nispel, who previously pissed all over The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is directing this one as well, since his tendency to over-aestheticize his movies actually makes them LESS scary. Why can’t the music video hacks Michael Bay gets to ...
