“Crazy Heart” Trailer
indieWIRE Recent —
Fox Searchlight has released the trailer for their last minute Oscar ‘09 contender, “Crazy Heart.” Suggestively a decision made in the wake of “Amelia” crashing and burning with critics and audiences, Searchlight moved the film - the directorial debut of Scott Cooper - up from its original 2010 release to a awards qualifying run beginning December 16th. The very last trailer of the 2009 Oscar season, it showcases the film’s biggest asset - the performance of 4-time Academy Award nominee (and 0-time winner) Jeff Bridges. Bridges plays Bad Blake, a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who’s had way too many marriages, far too many years on the ...
Crazy Heart Poster and Trailer
Row Three —
S o maybe a little on the corny, melodramatic side but still… merging too of my favorite things into one (music and film) with a cast I won’t be able to skip and I’m convinced we’re probably looking at something kind of special here; particularly for Jeff Bridges. Directorial debuts are also something nearly always special as there’s no ingrained sense of “have to do it this way.” New film makers do it the way they know how which often leads to risks and lucky mistakes. Rounding out the cast is Maggie Gyllenhaal, Robert Duval and Colin Farrell. This looks like Jeff Bridges’ take on The Wrestler . I’m sold. Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) is a broken-down, ...

We Are Movie Geeks —
Yesterday, WAMG’s showed you the new poster for CRAZY HEART with four-time Academy Award nominee, Jeff Bridges. In the past few weeks, Bridges has jumped to the front of the line on most of the Oscar pundits lists in the Best Actor category as this new trailer for CRAZY HEART clearly shows a new player has entered the race. Sasha Stone over at AWARDS DAILY says it best, ”The Dude may finally see his moment to shine.”
As Tom O’Neil over at THE GOLD DERBY writes: ...
THE DUDE WRESTLES COUNTRY SINGIN’
Filmdrunk —
Jeff Bridges stars in Crazy Heart, a film already drawing comparisons to The Wrestler. It’s still got a guy singin’ about a three-legged dog on a one-way road to nowheretown, only this time, he’s the main character.
Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who’s had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL), a journalist who discovers the real man behind ...

Crazy Heart
Movie Mom —
Jeff Bridges does not portray Bad Blake, a broken-down, once-successful country singer; he inhabits the role, showing us not just what is happening to the man on screen but everything, every success and every failure, every love and every loss that the man has had in his 57 years.
Blake once played arenas and was a mentor to Tommy Sweet (Colin Farrell), who is now a huge star. He once had money, and his own band. Now he is lucky to get a one-night gig at a bowling alley, with a pick-up band for back-up.
Bridges makes us feel that Blake is someone we have known and listened to all our lives, as though just last week, driving in ...
