I just received a review copy of “Bruno,” and since I didn’t see it in theaters, will post a review soon. It hits DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 17, 2009.
Until then, here’s a clip from the bonus material, a never-before-seen interview where baseball legend Pete Rose sits with Austrian TV host Bruno, played by Sacha Baron Cohen. It’s an alternate scene not included in the film.
Whether you like Cohen’s characters or not, it always floors me how deeply embedded he is in them. Really, it’s hard to believe he’s anything other than the character you’re seeing on screen. ...

[image] Brüno spares no one. In this deleted scene, not even Pete Rose can get out of the grasp of the glorious man dressed in hot pants. It's not as hilarious as you might be hoping for but it's still an interesting watch. There's something horribly funny about using the workers as seats. Rose doesn't seem to affected by the strange situation at all. Hell, Paula Abdul was pretty weirded out by the whole thing. When the cart comes out with the sushi man, Rose still keeps his cool. I honestly don't know a lot about baseball, but this guy had it pretty hard from what I've read (not that he didn't bring it on himself). In this deleted scene from the Bruno movie, just leaked to promote the DVD release on November 17th, baseball great Pete Rose is subjected to the same here-sit-on-my-Mexican stunt that Bruno used on Paula Abdul. To his credit, Rose doesn’t squirm or complain, he just settles in and starts talkin’ baseball. At one point the crew tries to rattle Rose when his chair starts acting uncomfortable. Sacha Baron Cohen's DA ALI G SHOW still stands as one of the funniest TV series of the past decade. Sort of a politically aware version of CANDID CAMERA, it made Cohen a cult favorite among those with HBO. [image] Last week we mentioned that the LaToya Jackson scene cut out of the theatrical version of " Brüno " earlier this summer out of respect for the Jackson family — the King of Pop had dies just days earlier — would be reinstated for the DVD as a deleted scene. The DVD arrives in stores on Nov. 17 and now both the aforementioned Jackson clip and one in a similar setting featuring disgraced ex-baseball star Pete Rose are available for your viewing pleasure. Yeah, they're OK. Not brilliant, but then again, so was the movie, basically.
