Total Film News — Avatar's Sam Worthington is clearly not done with science fiction - he's attached to star in near-future tale The Last Days Of American Crime. The Minority Report-esque plot focuses on the US government's plan to covertly broadcast a signal that would make it impossible for anyone to commit a crime. It's been adapted from Rick Remender's comic book, which is ready to hit the shops as a miniseries next month. There's no word on who might direct the movie yet, but if Duncan Jones wasn't already busy on Source Code and trying to get Mute made, he'd have our vote. The Screening Log — Sam Worthington is bagging a lot of movie deals out there at the moment, and the latest project he's attached to star in is "The Last Days of American Crime," based on Rick Remender's comicbook. Variety says the story is set in the near future, when the U.S. government broadcasts a signal that makes it impossible for people to knowingly break the law. Sounds like an interesting sci-fi project. No word yet on what Worthington's character will be like, but my guess is something goes wrong and he pretty much has to save everybody. Worthington recently starred in "Terminator: Salvation."
