Paramount and DreamWorks have officially announced that they will be making Transformers 3, and releasing the film on Friday, July 1st 2011. Summer 2011 is really begining to shape up as Transformers becomes the third film announced thus far for July — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II hits on the 15th and Marvel’s The First Avenger: Captain America hits on the 22nd. Paramount has also moved up the release date of Marvel’s Thor to June 6th to give the threequel more breathing room. No word on if Michael Bay or stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox ...

Hold the phone. Yesterday, Variety reported that "Transformers 3" would be appearing on July 1, 2011 and the geek-o-sphere cheered and celebrated. But according to Michael Bay on his message board, Paramount fucked up the announcement and said you'll all have to wait an additional year. "I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September.
