Latino Review —
... been anticipating The Tourist since it was first announced -- there is at least one of you, right? -- it's not-so-happy news for fans of Wanted. Apparently, Jolie has opted for The Tourist over Universal's offer for Wanted 2.
Of course, things are up in the air until we find out whether Donnersmarck is sitting in the director's chair. Until then, let's discuss: what would you rather see Jolie in next? Wanted 2 or The Tourist?

“Tourist” Guide: Von Donnersmarck Set to Direct Jolie
At The Movies - Film News and Reviews —
Angelina Jolie–just your average everyday Interpol agent.
The announcement earlier this year that a remake of the 2005 French film “Anthony Zimmer” was in the works seemed routine enough: Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron were set to star, and Bharat Nalluri was going to be in the director’s chair. Then Cruise chose to do “Knight & Day” (the awful new title of the previously awfully-titled “Wichita”). Sam Worthington was brought in to take over for Cruise, but I guess Worthington-Theron wasn’t enough to get the movie made. Angelina Jolie, though, with her stature as one ...

... And just like that another middling thriller gets interesting. He's not signed but Spyglass wants him bad, according to Variety . The movie is about an American tourist - Worthington, whose American accent ...

... is suspected of being a criminal on a global scale, and is a remake of the French thriller, Anthony Zimmer. One of the Filmstalker readers dropped a note about the original film and had a pretty negative view of the film, so maybe there's a case for the remake. Cinema Blend News —
German Oscar Winner Convinces Jolie To Join The Tourist Last week it was just a rumor that Angelina Jolie would star in The Tourist replacing Charlize Theron as an Interpol agent who drags an unaware American tourist into her spy game. 'The Lives Of Others' Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck to Helm 'The Tourist' With Angelina Jolie
:: The Playlist :: —
After star Charlize Theron and director Bharat Nalluri left the project a week ago, we wrote about our fears that spy-thriller "The Tourist" would hire a more conventional helmer, particularly as Angelina Jolie was said to be circling the project. As it turns out, her participation depended on finding the right director for the film, and the star is now set to sign on, with the understanding that German director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who won an Oscar for 2006's ...
Jolie/Worthington Project The Tourist to be Helmed by Director of Oscar-Winning Film The Lives of Others
/Film —
This is a pretty great development, at least for the cast and crew of The Tourist. The film has gone through a lot of personnel tweaks, as we’ve reported over the last few weeks. The cast finally settled down, with Angelina Jolie and Sam Worthington set as the two leads. With those in place, it seems like the director’s chair formerly held by Bharat Nalluri will be filled by a great talent: Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who won the 2007 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar for his film The Lives of Others.

Jolie's 'Tourist' Set for 2011 with 'Lives of Others' Director
Cinematical —
Angelina Jolie's pet project The Tourist might finally have a director, according to Variety. Internationally acclaimed director and writer Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck "hasn't formally entered into negotiations," but it's looking likely that the man behind the critically hailed film The Lives of Others will be hopping behind the camera for this 2011 release.
Jolie reportedly turned down the sequel of Wanted in favor of The Tourist (although the rumors of her return of the sexy tattooed assassin remain at large) but she was holding out on officially signing on to The ...
THE TOURIST gets a possible director
gordonandthewhale.com —
After a few rounds of casting and crew musical chairs, THE TOURIST finally seems to be coming together, complete with its very own director (original director Bharat Nalluri previously dropped out of the project). Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck has been tapped as Spyglass’s top pick for the remake of French film ANTHONY ZIMMER. While negotiations are not formal as of yet, the film is expected to be a hot property, and if the film is von Donnersmarck’s for the taking, I don’t think we’ll be seeing him turn it down.
In August, we got word that Sam Worthington was replacing Tom Cruise as our “tourist.” And, just last week, we ...

... I really, really liked Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's The Lives of Others. It was one of my top five from 2007 and I'm definitely on its side when it comes to debates between it and Pan's Labyrinth, the movie many people say was "robbed" by Lives for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award. However, here brings up a major issue. The Lives of Others was so good than von Donnersmarck is moving to Hollywood to make a movie starring Sam Worthington and Angelina Jolie. Call me skeptical. ...
