Trailer For The Wrestler
Cinema Blend News —
Trailer For The Wrestler I'd love to see The Wrestler become one of December's surprise small hits, amid much more pedigreed and well-hyped Oscar fare. It features a sterling performance by Mickey Rourke, which most people know by now, but it's also a surprising and emotional story about a profession most of us disdain-- professional wrestling. With the first trailer for the movie now online at Apple.com , hopefully audiences will discover what I did when I saw The Wrestler at the New York Film Festival in October. We've embedded the trailer below as well for your viewing ...

Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler Trailer Starring Mickey Rourke
Film Junk —
... just gone online and I think it does a great job of showing what the movie has to offer. First and foremost, it’s a powerful performance by Mickey Rourke, but it also has some brief flashes of humour, but it’s all set to the unlikely backdrop of semi-pro wrestling. It’s definitely one of the most unique movies to come along in a while, and I hope everyone gets a chance to check it out soon. Apple, among other websites, now has the trailer for Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, due out later this year via Fox Searchlight. 2006's The Fountain finally won me over as an Aronofsky fan, having been turned-off by Requiem for a Dream. I'm very curious as to whether or not there is another terrific movie here, hidden underneath the formula of an oscarbatory trailer.

... Now this actually looks amazing. As a wrestling fan (who noticed the use of Ring of Honor and the brief shot of Ron “The Truth” Killings in the trailer), it looks seriously good, without being patronising about the sport.
Will it win the Oscar? Mickey Rourke will be up against whatever else Clint Eastwood makes before February and perhaps The Joker if they push Ledger for best actor…
