I am – Hercules!! J.J. Abrams’ “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof will co-write the sequel to 2009’s “Star Trek” alongside Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the “Fringe” creators who wrote the installment due in May. Abrams will produce the 12th Trek movie, which will presumably continue to follow the young Kirk and Spock of a Romulan-altered timeline, but is not yet committed to direct. Many blame Orci and Kurtzman for the lameness of “Transformers,” but I’m here to tell you they contributed some unbelievably great episodes of “Alias’” first season. As for Lindelof, I love what he's doing with his “Ultimate Hulk Vs. Wolverine” funnybook. Find all of ...

Star Trek sequel script underway
Total Film News —
Despite the fact that the first film hasn’t even, er, opened yet, Paramount is already making plans for another Star Trek adventure. It’s not really a surprise given that A) the franchise is possibly its biggest money-spinner and B) committing to have a script written doesn’t mean they’ll make the movie. Still, it’s a sign of commitment to JJ Abrams and his team, three of which – Star Trek (trailer here) writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and producer Damon Lindelof – are attached to write the second movie. While Abrams has not committed to direct any sequel, ...

Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman: People To Aspire To Be
TheBadandUgly.com —
Ok, this is where I’m going to be a geeky screenwriter for a second, because the rise of Mr. Roberto Orci and Mr. Alex Kurtzman is basically the dream of a certain phylum of writer that dreams of working on big, important projects.
Kurtzman and Orci started working as a writing duo right out of high school and managed to both get on board Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess, where they worked their chops until they got picked up on Alias, where they collided with JJ Abrams.
Flash forward to now, and these two get thier pick of fun properties: The Island, The Legend of Zorro, Mission: Impossible III, Transformers, ...

Paramount already preparing 'Star Trek' sequel
The Screening Log —
So I guess the big news of the day is Paramount Pictures' plans to quickly develop a sequel to J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Trek" reboot.
It's not unusual for a studio to gear up for a sequel to a film that hasn't opened yet, and I guess Paramount is pretty confident "Trek" will do pretty well and satisfy the fans.
Now, according to Variety, the sequel is obviously still in the earliest developmental stages. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will return to write the script, and joining them is Damon Lindelof.
The trade also said J.J. Abrams will be back as producer, although it's unclear at this stage ...

Abrams will be back to produce the sequel along with his partner Bryan Burk, though it hasn't been confirmed if Abrams will be back to direct. The script should be ready by December of this year with a summer 2011 release in mind. This looks like Paramount believes in Star Trek's ability to be a franchise. They're a hell of a lot more confident than I am. I know I'll watch, because I end up watching everything. But most of the ...
