... It’s mostly word of mouth on the net, but some big-budget fan productions, like Star Wars: Revelations which I mentioned earlier, and Star Trek: Phase II, a fan film series that George Takei and Walter Koenig have appeared in, actively pursue the mainstream media. Shane Felux, the director of Revelations, talked with newspapers and magazines all over the world and wound up doing interviews on CNN, CBS, MSNBC, G4 and CBC. Meanwhile, the Phase II guys do a lot of TV, and also put out a quarterly magazine about ...

... quality, Cawley's TREK installments are remarkable in many ways. They're earnest, ballsy, and ambitious. It'll be really interesting to see how Crawley & Co. approach BUCK. There's supposedly a Frank Miller guided BUCK ROGERS feature film being mulled at the moment. ... So, die-hard Trek fans only had two options if they wanted to enjoy bold new Enterprise adventures: Abrams’ version or those fan-made Star Trek: Phase 2 webisodes that faithfully recreate the original 60s show right down to the “In Color” NBC peacock bumper before the opening credits. Since I generally can’t stomach much more than ten to fifteen minutes of the latter in any one sitting, I was glad for option one. ...

... , each aired heavily hyped episodes which worked a justification for revisiting the original 1960’s Enterprise ship, uniform design, or both into their storylines (“Relics,” “Trials and Tribble-ations,” and “In a Mirror Darkly” respectively). Then there’s the surprisingly successful fan-created Star Trek: Phase II. This web series set in the original Star Trek universe contains all of the 1960's accouterments. I’m not a fan myself, but I understand that it has a huge following. ...
