Lex Luthor Not In Next Superman Movie? Is Kevin Spacey too busy running his theater over in London to come back to fight Superman? Or has Warner Bros. decided that bald villains are just out this season? Either way, Latino Review is floating the rumor that Lex Luthor won't be part of the next Superman movie, which they swear really will happen one of these days. There is no word yet on who that might be, but I definitely think this is a good news. 1. Disney is making a prequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) that will tell the story of how Captain Nemo created his warship, the Nautilus. Supposedly, this will be a "family film", though I'm not sure what sort of "family film" could have Nemo as its main character; in the original film, it was not James Mason's revenge-seeking captain that we were supposed to identify with primarily, but the Paul Lukas, Peter Lorre and Kirk Douglas characters who were almost killed by him. ... the main baddie - WB execs want to pluck a super-cool supervillain from Supes' rogues gallery. Which is exciting news. As much as we liked Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns, we'd much rather see a super-powered scrap between Supes and Doomsday (who you can see in the gallery to your right), Darkseid or a young General Zod. When Superman returns… again, it may not be with Kevin Spacey, according to LatinoReview. Apparently Warner Bros. is actively listening to writers’ takes on a new Superman movie, and while they “haven’t heard anything they like yet… the kicker is that WB wants a NEW VILLAIN from Superman’s Rogues Gallery to be the main antagonist…NOT LEX LUTHOR!”
