Filmstalker — ... . And it turns out probably with good reason, he's having nothing to do with it. He spoke to LA Times through IESB , and it turns out he had an idea to reunite Riggs and Murtaugh. And Shane Black had produced a script to go with it. A disagreement between Donner and Joel Silver seems to have put a spanner in the works, and led to Gibson turning the idea down. Mel turned it down...I would like to think that Mel turned it down because I wasn't involved. Knowing Mel, I would like to think that. Would that be the kind of thing he does? It sure would be.
