Universal may be close to locking down a director for the third instalment in the Fockers trilogy – Get Smart helmer Pete Segal. Get Smart Director Will Raise The Little Fockers Production is still running ahead at a lightning pace for Little Fockers , with a cast lined up and a script being written as we speak. Now Pete Segal, who made last summer's Get Smart , is apparently the frontrunner for the directing job. Peter Segal to direct 'Little Fockers'?

We recently learned Universal is moving ahead with the development of "Little Fockers."
According to Variety, one of the hottest contestants to direct the film is Peter Segal, whose credits include "Get Smart," "The Longest Yard" and "50 First Dates."
Universal has hired John Hamburg to write the screenplay. Jay Roach, who helmed the first two films, will not return to direct because he's currently focusing on "Dinner for Schmucks" instead.
Nothing is known about the plot at this stage, but what we do know is that Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Owen Wilson are expected to star in the film. ...
