Carpetbagger — Christopher Campbell writes in SpoutBlog that it isn’t just “Milk” or “Button” that could interrupt “Slumdog’s” walk to the podium. He suggests that “The Reader” a ctually has a shot , because the Academy is always crushing on director Stephen Daldry and that the power of the Holocaust as a subject never diminishes. He envisions a scenario where the advocates of the other films take each other out in cross-fire and “The Reader,” assisted by a “whole hog” Harvey Weinstein, could sneak in. Not feeling it, but worth reading.
