It's a bit of a surprise because George Nolfi was originally signed to do the job but he also signed up to write and direct The Adjustment Bureau also with Matt Damon, but when that was taking too much of his time he decided to leave Bourne, and that's when Zetumer stepped in according to The Hollywood Reporter .
