McG to Direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo
/Film —
What will McG be directing after Terminator Salvation? Terminator 5? Nope. Disney has signed McG to direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo for $8 million against 7% of the gross according to Variety. I’m convinced that McG has the talent to make a visually stunning film, which is what Nemo needs to be. But I’d almost rather him stick to a darker sci-fi path, especially after what I’ve seen so far from Terminator Salvation. This also seems like the perect type of movie for Disney to release in Disney Digital ...

Morning Deal Report: McG Under the Sea
The Screengrab —
McG is in demand! Not by me or you or anyone who actually enjoys watching movies, of course, but by studio execs who can’t get enough of the half-named wonder. The Terminator: Salvation director has settled on his next project and it is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo. That thoroughly unnecessary and downright distracting subtitle is our first hint that this is not something to look forward to. “Scripted by Bill Marsilli, the film is an origin story of Nemo as he creates his warship, the Nautilus. The characters come from the Jules Verne novel,” Variety insists. The last time we saw Captain ...
