I am – Hercules!! Jude Law ("The Holiday," "Sleuth") will play Dr. John Watson to Robert Downey’s titular sleuth in Warner Bros.' “Sherlock Holmes." The Warner Project, directed by Guy Ritchie ("Snatch," "RockNRolla"), is not to be confused with Judd Apatow's untitled project at Sony, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell as Holmes and Watson. Jude Law is in talks to play Dr Watson in Guy Ritchie's all-action take on the Sherlock Holmes stories, according to Variety . Law would star opposite the already cast Robert Downey Jr in the new adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous tales about the British detective. High profile names have been regularly rumoured to be taking roles in Ritchie's film ever since the British director announced he was taking on the project in June. Variety reports today that Jude Law is in negotiations to join the cast of the Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes movie. Law would play Watson to Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes.

The trade says Law is in talks to star as Watson, the detective’s sidekick. Robert Downey Jr. stars as the film’s titular character. Plot details are unknown at this point, but the story line will be based on several of Doyle’s tales.
