Jackman ditches Oscars
JoBlo's Movie Emporium News —
Hugh at the 2009 Oscars Not to sound like a brownnoser, but I didn't watch the Oscars this year - I preferred following Mike Sampson's funny-as-heck rundown right here. I did hear great things about Hugh Jackman's tenure though, and many speculated the ceremony had found a new long-running host in the tradition of Bob Hope, Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal. Not the case. The Academy Awards are already deep into preparations for the next show this coming March, and so a frontman has to be named soon. According to Variety , sources close to Jackman confirmed he turned the gig down in order to keep his mind on his current Broadway run then get ...
Hugh Jackman Says No To Repeat Hosting The Oscars
Cinema Blend News —
Hugh Jackman Says No To Repeat Hosting The Oscars A great many people seemed to like Hugh Jackmans stint hosting the Oscars last year. I find myself pretty indifferent. At least he wasnt Whoopi. It could always be worse and in fact it may be worse in 2010 because despite rumors to the contrary, Jackman wont be back. Variety says that Hugh was offered the job again and this time he turned it down. His reasons arent disclosed, but Hugh may want to space his Oscar hosting duties out in order to avoid two in a row, or he may simply be too busy. Hes currently in the middle of ...
Hugh Jackman turns down the Oscars
Total Film News —
If you were willing to bet Hugh Jackman would be stepping back up to the podium next Oscar night after his successful first year, be ready to lose money. The speculation on who will actually be perfuming host duties in 2010 has been rampant, with Jackman's name near the top of the list since he actually managed to raise the ratings of the wheezing show horse this year. But according to Variety, he's quietly let it be known that he's not ready to tackle another Oscars, what with starring on Broadway and gearing up to shoot Real Steel early next year. Where's that legendary healing power now, eh? Oh… ...
Jackman turns down Oscar gig
In Contention —
As the annual guessing game of who will host the Academy Awards continues to go in circles, there’s at least one name we can remove from consideration: a certain Mr. Hugh Jackman.
Variety confirms that the previous Oscar emcee was invited to repeat, but “quietly” turned down the opportunity sometime in the last few weeks, not wanting to do the task in consecutive years. (He may host again in the future, in other words.)
This largely puts paid to the speculation that the hiring of choreographer Adam Shankman to produce the show meant we were essentially in for a rerun of last year’s show, which is fine by ...
Hugh Jackman Won't Host the Oscars, Chuck Klosterman Talks 'Fargo Rock City'
:: The Playlist :: —
[image] — After doing a pretty good job last year (although we could have done without the 'tribute to musicals' number midway through the show), producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman had hoped that Hugh Jackman would return to host the 2010 Academy Awards. However, he's turned them down: Variety cites the actor not wanting to host two years in a row, as well as preparations for the idiotic-sounding robot boxing movie " The Real Steel ," as his reasons. So who will?— HBO's " Hung " seems to have rescued Anne Heche 's career - the actress has signed on for roles in two comedies . She'll play a businesswoman in Adam McKay 's " The Other ...
Hugh Jackman won't host Oscars, but who cares?
The Screening Log —
Sure, Hugh Jackman did a great job hosting the 81st annual Academy Awards, but the show as a whole was not as exciting as many of us expected. One thing is for sure though: Jackman won't be back in 2010.
Sources tell Variety Jackman turned down the job as host for the 82nd annual Academy Awards, which will take place March 7, 2010. The actor did say though that he may return to host in the future.
That leaves the question: who's next in line? The folks over at WAMG say they've received word that Neil Patrick Harris would replace Jackman. It's only a rumor, but I admit that could work.

... in a statement: "I don't play the banjo, but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars."
Including Martin's previous hosting duties, both men have a history with the Academy. Baldwin was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his work in "The Cooler," while Martin's first movie, 1977's "The Absent-Minded Waiter," was nominated for Best Live-Action Short Film.
