I am – Hercules!! Jack Black will play Lemuel Gulliver in Fox’s new version “Gulliver’s Travels,” based on Jonathan Swift’s 1726 tale of a fellow who finds in distant lands people of improbable size. Rob Letterman (“Shark Tale”) directs from a screenplay by Nicholas Stoller (“Fun With Dick And Jane,” “Yes Man”) and Joe Stillman ("Beavis & Butt-head," "King of the Hill," “Shrek,” "Shrek II"). Gulliver's Travels is going to film and Jack Black will be lead. According to Variety, 20th Century Fox is moving forward with the big screen adaptation of the Jonathan Swift book. Story centers on Lemuel Gulliver, a free-spirited travel writer who, on an assignment to the Bermuda Triangle, suddenly finds himself a giant among men when he washes ashore on the hidden island of Lilliput, home to a population of industrious, yet tiny, people.

Apparently someone at Twentieth Century Fox is reading SpoutBlog lists for inspiration: a month after we suggested a contemporarily set adaptation of Gulliver’s Travels starring Will Ferrell, the studio has announced a contemporarily set adaptation of Gulliver’s Travels starring Jack Black (really, though, the project has apparently been in the works for some time).
