Variety reports that The Howling is yet another horror movie that’s going to get the remake treatment. Actually, whether or not it will be a remake or just a pure sequel to the original film is in question due to the unknown plot synopsis. Then again, with a title for this particular upcoming feature being The Howling: Reborn, you immediately assume remake.

Hot on the heels of the shaggy dog stories in New Moon and the Wolfman comes the news that ’80s horror franchise The Howling is due for a reboot. According to Variety , “Indie producers Joel Kastelberg and Moonstone Entertainment's Etchie Stroh are re-launching the werewolf franchise as The Howling: Reborn. Former studio marketing exec Joe Nimziki, who worked at New Line, MGM and Sony, will make his feature directorial debut from his own script.” The film is due to start filming ...

Producers Joel Kastelberg and Etchie Stroh are set to reboot the "Howling" franchise with "The Howling: Reborn" reports Variety.
"Gremlins" helmer Joe Dante directed the first film which hit in 1981 and spawned six sequels. Dee Wallace-Stone starred as a news anchor stalked by a serial killer who turns out to be a werewolf.
Story details on the remake/reboot are being kept under wraps. Joe Nimziki will make his feature directorial debut from his own script.
Shooting kicks off in February for a release next Halloween.
