I am – Hercules!! Twentieth Century Fox will now partner on Walden Media’s Narnia movies following Disney’s decision last month to pull out of the franchise. I’m sure many will share my level of excitement as the studio behind “Eragon” is now helping to steer the adventures of the plucky Pevensie clan. The first Fox entry in the saga will be “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” Fox and Walden are aiming for a budget of $140 million budget, considerably less money than was employed by the two Disney chapters. Fox's 2008 theatrical distribution output included such genre entries as "Nim's Island," "Jumper," "The Happening," "Meet ...

... Tradition suggests that when it comes to saving Narnia, you need a large, benevolent lion with a messiah complex to get the job done. Michael Apted is set to direct, but finding a writer for the film could prove to be more difficult. Richard LaGravanese wrote the most recent draft that Fox and Walden were happy with, but his availability for the new project is in question.
Ben Barnes, Skander Keynes, and Georgie Henley are all set to reprise their respective roles.

... second Narnia film, Prince Caspian and suddenly a third movie in an ongoing series looks a lot more like marching towards the cliff despite warnings.
On the other hand, Dawn Treader was my favorite Narnia book growing up and seeing it on screen could be pretty damn cool. I just wish that Walden Media found someone else to co-finance Narnia, since Fox has trouble treating projects with respect.
Though I guess they could use some of that Watchmen money…
