Wayans Brothers Have Their Sights Set On Singing, Dancing Teens In 'Dance Flick'
MTV Movies —
... Hitherto known simply as "The Untitled Wayans Brothers Project," the upcoming film from Marlon, Shawn, Keenen Ivory and nephew Damien will be appropriately called "Dance Flick" and spoof movies like "Save the Last Dance," "Hairspray," "You Got Served" and, yes, "High School Musical."
(You can see the "Dance Flick" poster exclusively on the MTV Movies Blog.)
"We watched a few [dance movies]. We watched a couple ... couple hundred thousand," writer/producer Shawn Wayans laughed when MTV News visited the set ...
'Dance Flick' Comes from the Spawn of Satan
RopeofSilicon.com —
... If you were thinking that this new Wayans may have a different take on what comedy means and what is actually funny, guess again. "I see all of myself in Damien," said Shawn of his nephew. "He steals me basically. He's a thief. He stole my soul. I stole Keenen's soul. Lil' Damien stole all of our souls." The tagline for Dance Flick has got to be something like, "From the Spawn of Satan comes a film from Hell!" It only seems fitting. Now, here's the poster for Dance Flick as debuted by MTV , what a lucky exclusive this is. And I thought the Wayans had no pride. ...

Attack of Even More Spoof Movies!
Get The Big Picture —
You'd think with a downward trend more pronounced than the stock market or the
use of the phrase "Whazzzuuup!" that studios would aver from spoof movies for a
while. The market was inundated with them to the point that,
as we
reported this weekend, there's going to be a spoof movie called
Not Another Not Another Movie. But wait -
there's more!

Wayans Brothers’ Next Spoof Film Revealed
Movie Moron —
... being funny after ‘Scary Movie’ part one and I hate to see Marlon Wayans squandering the talent he displayed in ‘Requiem for a Dream’. On the other hand at least the title doesn’t end in ‘-movie’ and people keep flocking to see these cookie-cutter comedies so you can’t really blame them if they keep churning them out.
My advice is to vote with your wallet and avoid it like the plague.

... the respect ends. Now I won’t go all Perez Hilton and paste my opinions of the genre all over the poster and post it instead to make it more of a mockery. The poster is pretty good. I wish the genre would offer the same respect. But gone are the days where spoof movies are clever parodies, and instead are just a succession of scenes of people playing your favourite characters doing amped up loopy versions doing things very out of character. Nothing clever at all.

More Terrible Spoofs: Dance Flick and 2012-ish: The Day the Earth Bent Over
Film Junk —
... , along come two more unimaginative comedies that are pretty much guaranteed to suck. First up, the new Wayans Brothers spoof, Dance Flick, which as you can probably guess, is a parody of the dance movie craze that has been going on lately. MTV scored a look at the first poster, which you can see above. I wonder why it’s called “Flick” instead of “Movie” though. Do the Wayans want to avoid associating themselves with crap like Epic Movie now? ...
