No Monsters Vs. Aliens Sequel Coming After All
Cinema Blend News —
No Monsters Vs. Aliens Sequel Coming After All Earlier this year I fell hard for Monsters vs. Aliens , and apparently I wasn't alone-- the DreamWorks animated movie made $198 here in the U.S., and is currently at #6 on the box office chart for the year. But apparently being a better-than-average comedy and a box office hit at home isn't enough for DreamWorks Animation. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the studio has scrapped plans to make a sequel for the film, thanks to the fact that overseas markets didn't like it as much as we did (it made $181 million worldwide, ...

While Monsters vs. Aliens didn’t exactly make Pixar numbers earlier this year, it did make just under $400 million worldwide which should be enough to earn it a sequel. It certainly makes more sense than "Shrek," "Madagascar," or "Kung Fu Panda" sequels, which were all self-contained stories in which the characters' arcs were compete. NEWSFLASH: not EVERY movie that turned a profit should get a sequel fellas. Sigh. This is why I love Pixar. At least their sequels are well thought out. Source: LA Times

No ‘Monsters Vs. Aliens’ Sequel
At The Movies - Film News and Reviews —
... There’s definitely scope there for a sequel but Monsters Vs. Aliens 2 will not be happening. In a conference call about earnings, CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg explained that although domestic takings were great, international audiences didn’t take to the movie enough to warrant a sequel. He couldn’t, however, offer an explanation, telling The L.A. Times: ...
