Fox Searchlight has acquired rights to the upcoming novel Breathers: A Zombie's Lament by S.G. Browne. Variety reports, Diablo Cody will produce the zombie romantic comedy, marking her third collaboration with the specialty label following Juno and the upcoming Megan Fox starrer Jennifer's Body, which Cody exec produced. Breathers centers on a recently deceased Everyman and newly minted zombie who is having trouble adjusting to his new existence. Oscar-winner Diablo Cody is gearing up to produce the big-screen version of S.G. Browne's upcoming novel "Breathers: A Zombie's Lament."
According to Variety, the story follows a recently deceased man who comes back to life as a zombie and faces quite a number of challenges adapting to this new lifestyle.
Things, however, quickly start to change when he attends an Undead Anonymous meeting and connects with people dealing with the same predicament.
Geoff Latulippe will write the screenplay, and Mason Novick will co-roduce with Cody, who also wrote and will produce the upcoming horror flick ...
