... Planet Disney has posted some new character photos from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which appear to be scanned from a magazine. I have cleaned up the images a bunch, and included the cleaner versions after the jump. The photos include Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice with The White Rabbit. ... Alice (Mia Wasikowska). Though the pics that Planet Disney boasts are slightly grainy, scanned images, you can get a pretty good feel for the direction Burton has taken.
And if you're wondering why the Red Queen boasts the Queen of Hearts motif, that's because Burton is following the 1951 Disney film's precedent by combining the two characters into one catchall antagonist.

I don't know about you, but I'm already eagerly waiting for a teaser trailer for Tim Burton's vision of "Alice in Wonderland," which won't open in theaters until March 5, 2010.
