If Shatner Were In Abrams' STAR TREK, This Is What It Would've Been Like...
Ain't It Cool News - The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news. — Merrick here... A script fragment purporting to represent the written-but-never-filmed Shatner cameo for J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK has gone online over at TrekWeb. I'm waiting for a full confirm re: this fragment's authenticity, but it does match perfectly with everything I've heard about ShatKirk's intended appearance. I'll post an UPDATE confirming or debunking as soon as we know for sure. READ IT HERE!!! Personally, I really like this sequence as scripted and feels it nicely addresses a nagging, nitpicky issue I had with the film: there's not enough gravitas when QuintoSpock steps onto the Enterprise bridge at the end of the movie, and asks PineKirk for permission to come aboard. Spock Prime has already ...

And what are the odds that Shatner would be saying the exact words that Young Spock would need to hear at that moment...words that coincidentally would be the perfect voice over to end a film with? Personally, I didn’t miss him, but it’s easy to say that in hindsight. Check out what might have been after the break. TrekWeb has the script fragment in detail, which appears to be from one of the first script drafts. I’ll recap it here, and you can visit the site to read the whole thing. If you ...

Script For William Shatner’s Excised Star Trek Cameo Revealed
/Film — EDIT: When I originally ran this an hour ago, I completely forgot that we’d basically presented this before, a point which the first comments were quick to point out. (It’s not the end of the world, guys, really.) But there is new content here — this is the first time we’ve been able to link to the actual scripted scene, rather than just a description. If that’s bait enough for you, then by all means carry on. Original article follows. Now that Star Trek is out on DVD you can review the surprisingly successful J.J. It was a debacle that you may remember occurring some months prior to the release of J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK. A back-and-forth of sorts between the director and the original Kirk himself, William Shatner, on whether the actor was ever really asked to make a cameo in the film and, if he ...
