Chris Rock and Adam Sandler, with Burt Reynolds, in the ill-advised remake of “The Longest Yard.”
Variety reports that Adam Sandler has filled out the cast of his next film with a bunch of old friends: Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, and Kevin James. Dennis Dugan is directing a script written by Sandler and Fred Wolf (responsible for “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star”).
The untitled comedy is about a group of high school friends who reunite thirty years later over a July 4th weekend. This is not unlike the real life cast, all of whom (except James) worked together on ...
Adam Sandler recruits his mates for a new comedy
Total Film News —
Adam Sandler is roping in the likes of Kevin James, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock and David Spade for a new, untitled Sony comedy. In what sounds like either the greatest comedic team up or sheer cinematic hell on Earth (depending on your tastes, and frankly we’re verging more towards the latter), it’s the first time all five have signed on to a film. There’s no word on a title, but the basic pitch is that five best friends from high school reunite for comedy shenanigans on a Fourth of July weekend holiday. Wonder when they’ll plan the release date for across the pond? ...

Sandler Reunites with Rock, Spade, Schneider, and James
Get The Big Picture —
... . Variety says it's about five high school friends who reunite 30 years later for a Fourth of July weekend. So, you know, The Big Chill minus Glenn Close crying in the shower. Although, now that I think about it, this movie would get bonus points just for throwing that in there out of the blue. ...
Adam Sandler Rounds Up The 'Expendables' Of Comedy For Reunion Buddy Film
:: The Playlist :: —
It starts with Adam Sandler lying poolside, reading the trade, a eureka moment starts and he picks up his gold-crusted water-proof cell phone and dials up Kevin James. The conversation probably goes like this: Sandler: Jamesy! 'Blart' You're huge! James: Sandman! Man, see those numbers? I had no clue people would connect with that crap. We wrote that thing in two weeks and I friggin' just goofed off and phone it in! Sandler: Middle America, baby! They looooove you! Ahhhhh! James: Miiiiiiddddlllleeeeee AAaaaaamerica!, WOO! In your face Osama Bin laden! So what's up? Sandler: You're ...
Discuss: Can Adam Sandler Make Another Funny Movie?
Cinematical —
I was watching Happy Gilmore the other day and I thought to myself, "Where did this guy go?" Adam Sandler comedies aren't for everyone -- they're silly and stupid and one step above an hour and a half of Yo Mama jokes (which isn't necessarily a bad thing -- remember how well it worked out for that scene in White Men Can't Jump ...). These days, however, amidst the Apatow and the Rogen and the Rudd, I'm finding it hard to locate those random Sandler die-hards. I know it's sad to say, but I don't think I've laughed during an Adam Sandler movie since Punch Drunk Love in 2002 ... and that ...

1992 Cast of SNL and King of Queens Making a Movie
I Watch Stuff - The Best Movie News Ever —
... So what they're getting at is that this is a movie about SNL, but instead of calling it "a popular, weekly sketch comedy program" they're calling it "high school", and instead of Chris Farley it's Kevin James. I can't quite figure out what the reuniting on "Fourth of July weekend" part represents. Maybe a declaration of independence from genuine laughter?
