ComingSoon.net talked to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who revealed that Disney would like to see Johnny Depp reprising the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 before he takes on the role of Tonto in The Lone Ranger . He added that the latter does not have a director yet, contrary to previous reports that said Mike Newell was set to direct. You can read the full story here !
'Pirates 4' Taking Priority Over 'Lone Ranger'
RopeofSilicon.com —
I am reporting this bit of news from ComingSoon.net's interview with producer Jerry Bruckheimer only because I am actually quite baffled talk of a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 has not died down or even come to a complete halt. As it turns out it is quite the opposite with Bruckheimer telling the site, "[Pirates of the Caribbean is] a great franchise for [Disney] and for us... We love the character and Johnny was really excited about coming back to Captain Jack. He certainly is interested in [playing] Tonto [in The Lone Ranger], but Disney's priority is to get Pirates made first. You never know what's ...
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 being written
Filmstalker —
JerryBruckheimer.jpg Not only did Jerry Bruckheimer reveal that pirates of the Caribbean is currently being written by the original writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot, but he's been discussing the possibility of Gore Verbinski returning to direct the fourth, just how interested Johnny Depp is, and where this new story is going to go. If Bruckheimer is pointing us in the right direction then the story seems to be that this film is going to be breaking from the old ones and going in a different direction. Jerry Bruckheimer ...
REEL TALK MIXTAPE, THURSDAY JUNE 11th
Reel Talk —
Are there any animal movies that aren’t sad? Now that I’m scarred from “Marley & Me,” it’s hard to get excited about Diane Lane being cast in “Secretariat” because I doubt I’ll see it. Variety reports the Disney film is about Penny Chenery’s (Lane) relationship with her 1973 Triple Crown-winning racehorse named Secretariat. Chenery was a typical housewife until her father fell ill and she was introduced to the world of horse racing. She took over his Virginia farm and was pressured to sell the establishment after his death. Between a dying loved one and knowing that Secretariat is ...
Jerry Bruckheimer Says New ‘Pirates’ Film Will Sail Before ‘The Lone Ranger’
MTV Movies Blog —
Johnny Depp’s hands are full of win. He’s signed on as Tonto in “The Lone Ranger,” a Disney Pictures film adapted from the old-time series that features Depp as a Native American sidekick. The beloved actor has also agreed to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. These roles emerged as a double-announcement made back in late 2008. Assuming Depp can juggle that busy schedule of his, it’s very likely that he’ll have yet another wildly popular character on his hands in “Ranger”’s Tonto. ...
“Pirates 4″ Hijacks “Ranger”

Johnny Depp gets to head for the sea before jumping on Tonto’s horse.
Are you worried about Johnny Depp’s schedule. Me too–aren’t we all? Well, anyway, since half his life is contracted to Jerry Bruckheimer, it would seem that the best source of information about Mr. Depp’s plans would be Mr. Bruckheimer. ComingSoon spoke to the producer with a fondness for large, moneymaking movies, and he said that “Pirates of the Caribbean 4,” with Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, is going to film before “The Lone Ranger,” in which Depp is set to ...
Jerry Bruckheimer talks 'Pirates' and 'The Lone Ranger'
Come Back Shane! —
Johnny Depp has a helluva lot of projects in the works, including The Lone Ranger (he's signed on for Jay Silverheels' original role as Tonto) and the fourth of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Both projects will be distributed by Disney, and though neither film has a director (those Mike Newell directing The Lone Ranger rumors are apparently false), producer Jerry Bruckheimer tells ComingSoon (via MTV) that Pirates of the Caribbean is Disney's first priority: "['Pirates' is] a great franchise for them ...
Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 Still A Top Priority
Cinema Blend News —
Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 Still A Top Priority Its been quite awhile since weve heard anything about the status of Pirates of the Caribbean 4 . In the interim, both Disney and Johnny Depp have loaded up with high-profile projects like The Lone Ranger . That doesnt however mean, that Pirates 4 isnt still everyones top priority. Pirates 4 On The Horizon
Movie Moron —
pirates-4.jpg Word has come from cash-surfing producer Jerry Bruckheimer that Disney are moving ahead with a fourth Pirates of the Carribbean.“For Disney, the priority is most definitely “Pirates.” “It’s a great franchise for them and for us, too,” he said. “A beloved character and Johnny’s really excited about coming back to Captain Jack. He certainly is interested in Tonto, but Disney’s priority is to get ‘Pirates’ made first. You never know what’s going to happen, but they would like it.” Bruckheimer shared that the original writers, Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot, were “writing ‘Pirates’ as we speak,” and he said it was “funny” and a ...
