Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I recently saw the Broken Lizard guys' live show here in Austin which was a mixture of sketch, audience participation and stand-up. Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme did a great tribute to Patrick Swayze, recalling a horrible first encounter story of their meeting with someone they considered an idol. Anyway, they mentioned during this show that their new movie was going to be seeing theatrical release this December and now we're getting news of just what that is. The distributor just picked up the latest comedy by the Broken Lizard gang called THE SLAMMIN SALMON, which had been sitting on the shelves since premiering at Slamdance back in January. While I wasn’t just the hugest fan of Broken Lizard’s latest movie, THE SLAMMIN’ SALMON (you can check out my SXSW review right here), I still have to give credit to the comedy troupe for the film. Even their weakest film, which I believe this to be, is still funnier than 90% of the comedies that typically come out. You can probably knocked that down to 75-80% for the last couple of years, but it still gets a passing grade.
