Adam Sandler…needs a hit.
Variety reports that Adam Sandler is set to star in “Jack and Jill,” a romantic comedy written by Steve Koren. Sandler will play both Jack and his twin sister Jill. No word on whether they will be walking up a hill to fetch a pail of water, etc., etc.
Playing twins? This is obviously a blatant bid for an Oscar by Sandler. The only more surefire method would be to play someone with a split personality. Of course, if he really wants to seal the deal, he could make his girl self ugly; movie stars going plain is another tactic. He might want to gain weight too.

Looks like Adam Sandler has found his next high concept comedy - he's working on Jack And Jill. We're not sure how closely it's based on the nursery rhyme about the twins going up the hill (hopefully it'll have a meatier plot that one of the characters falling down), but it'll be a romantic comedy. And Sandler's planning to play both main characters… Steve Koren, a former Saturday Night Live writer who used to work with Sandler back in the day, is in charge of the script. There's no word on a director yet, but Sony wants the film shooting early next year for a release in 2011… ...
